What is Art Therapy?
Art Therapy is a wonderful and unique therapeutic approach that helps connect the worlds of creative expression and psychology, making it a flexible and meaningful approach to working with children and people of all ages, including Adolescents. It provides a therapeutic setting to explore feelings or needs that may be presenting, and allow for healing and personal growth, in a safe, client-lead space.
Art Therapy can support children and adolescents to process unconscious feelings and needs, and make them more accessible and conscious. It can provide a safe space to process deep needs whilst feeling scaffolded, and this can allow important shifts in a child’s perception of themselves in their world.

Art Therapy can address and work through a young person’s emotional distress or trauma and work to reduce the struggles for the young person, and increase their sense of coping, regulation and expression.
How can Art Therapy support me and my child?
Art Therapy can support healing for those children and young people who may experience:
- Children and young people who may be experiencing difficulties at home or school.
- Children, young people and their caregivers who are finding it difficult to manage their needs and behaviours. This may be leading to feelings of disconnection, confusion or overwhelm for the child and caregivers.
- Children and young people who experience learning difficulties/delays or cognitive difficulties, and may need support managing these, whilst supporting caregiver/child connection and attunement.
- Children who have diagnosed neurological disorders or presentations, who are needing an enhanced sense of safety and empowerment around some areas of need or behaviour.
- Children and parents who have experienced complex trauma and need the environment in which to make sense of this at their pace, through connection and scaffolding.
- Children who are processing loss or making sense of changes and uncertainty.
Why Parents Choose Art Therapy for Their Children
Art Therapy offers more than just creative play — it’s a powerful tool for emotional healing, self-discovery, and connection. Expressing complex feelings through art can feel safer for children than words. In our sessions, your child is gently supported to make sense of their inner world, build emotional resilience, and strengthen their sense of self — all within a nurturing, non-judgmental space.
As a parent or caregiver, you’ll also be supported along the way. Together, we can deepen understanding, improve connection, and help your child move through challenges more confidently, calmly, and clearly. Art Therapy meets your child exactly where they are — and helps them grow from there.
